David Walker has joined BTSE as their new Chief Executive

I’ve been heartened and impressed by the real sense of shared purpose in delivering better outcomes across Bromley…

David joins BTSE following the retirement of Toni Walsh. Toni was in post from 2017 and was pivotal in shaping both BTSE and the Bromley Well service.

David now joins us at a key moment as we plan for our future within Bromley and beyond.

Introducing David

David has considerable experience working at a senior level in the charitable and public sectors. He has worked at a national level in programme and operational delivery, public affairs and communication roles.

  • Career Academies UK – a social mobility charity
  • Association of Colleges – a further education representative body where he delivered a successful multi-year National Governance Development Programme
  • And as an Executive Director of Corporate Services for a multi-academy trust.

Most recently he was CEO of an education charity helping improve the maths and English of underachieving disadvantaged pupils in London and the South East using volunteer tutors.

He has significant policy experience, having worked for the Confederation of British Industry and Nacro – the criminal justice charity. He is a qualified barrister.

Values

David is passionate about fairness for all, based on his own experiences growing up in Sunderland, and believes that everyone should have opportunities and a decent chance in life.

Volunteering

As a volunteer, David has been Chair of Governors at a deprived inner-London primary school and chair of a young people’s vacation education charity. Most recently he has volunteered as a COVID vaccine marshal.
